While some fitness fanatics prefer to exercise alone, others find the experience a whole lot more enjoyable when they workout with their friends or family members. If you’re one of the latter, you may be in need of some group exercise inspiration.
Simply going to the gym with your buddy isn’t the most exciting event and it’s likely you’ve both fallen into the same workout routine. This can make exercising a little dull, leaving you with a lack of motivation.
In order to keep your spirits high and help you and your exercise partner stay on track, why not try some of the following?
Charity run
You may each have a charity that’s close to your hearts, be it one that’s helped a close friend or family member, or even yourself. It’s a nice idea, therefore, to take part in a charity run or walk in order to raise money for a good cause, keep fit and have fun at the same time.
Whether you’ll be taking part in a 5K or 10K race, remember to train regularly in the run-up to the event, so as not to injure yourself on the big day. Having your workout partners alongside you will encourage you to keep each other motivated.
Not just this, but the fact you’ll be taking part in something you each have a connection towards should provide you with that extra push to give it your all.
Dance
If you normally cycle or run, try something new like signing up for a few dance classes. Decide together on the type of dance you’d like to try. Don’t worry if you’re not the best dancer; at the end of the day you’ll all be stepping out of your comfort zones, so just have fun with it.
What’s more, dancing is a great way to burn calories and who knows? You may even surprise yourself by having a lot more rhythm than you thought.
Hike
With the summer season in full swing, make the most of the great outdoors by embarking on a scenic hike. You’re bound to live close to a natural beauty spot, so take a trip up to the top of a well-known hill or mountain with your friends.
Hiking helps to build stamina and strength, as well as put you through your paces. As with running, you should also physically prepare your body for a hike by training in advance.
Remember to take a backpack on your travels and fill it with food, water and a first-aid kit for any unexpected accidents. It’s also a good idea to invest in a sturdy pair of walking boots to reduce the risk of spraining your ankle or getting blisters.
Swimming
Swimming is a great form of exercise, as it works all areas of the body, helping to tone muscles and increase fitness levels.
To make swimming in a group all the more fun, look out for classes at your local leisure center and attend them together.
Whichever group activity you choose to perform, remember that the exercise will be contributing towards boosting your Health Score and keeping your mind and body fit and healthy.
